Hi there. I'm running a redundant Cisco UCM 6.1.3.3190 implementation, with Unity 5.x vm and a CER server (ver 2.03). I'm a Cisco newbie - I know just enough to make myself dangerous.

I have a question on using CAR and the RTMT. I want to do two things:

a) Set up and run a "trunk report" so that I can see how many inbound and outbound calls we have.

b) Be able to run a CDR report on any extension on the system (see what extension is calling whom).

I've patted myself on the back for figuring out how to turn on the CAR reporting service, but now what do I do? The CAR & RTMT instructions are Byzantine. Based on other posts, do you set this up the CAR parameters in Unified Servicability, and then read them in RTMT? How do the two relate to one another? How does RTMT pull this information, or does RTMT have nothing to do with this?

Please shed some light if you are able. Thanks.

For a) if you get into RTMT and monitor your incoming ports. It will give you total calls, active calls, etc.
For b) Go into CAR and do a Search by Extension for the time period that you want to see.

I realize this is a very high level explaination. But try it and then come back with more specific questions and I'll try to help.
