Using C++ to Ping another computer

I'm wanting to use VC++ to ping anohter computer, but I'm not quite sure how to do it. I DON'T want to use a system command ping. I just want to be able to ping a computer, get the time it takes and capture the data. I'm not sure exactly what I could use to do this. Just need to be pointed in the right direction, don't need a full explaination of how to do it. Thanks in advance!
