Has anyone ever tried to run Business Portal using a Mac computer. Microsoft have said that this is unsupported.

mac "internet explorer" is not really compatible with business portal from personal experience.
You get a bit of functionality, but not enough to warrant it.
Only way to do it is to terminal server from a mac client to a terminal server box and then launch internet explorer from there.
