Hello All,

I have been tasked with changing all user ids to reflect the new naming convention which is needed for OCS.

My question, is it possible to use cucm 6.1.2 Bulk Administration to rename all USER IDs?
Example: At present all USER IDs are the end users 4 digit phone extention number. we would like to change that to there email alias name. Was wondering if anyone has achieved such a large change within Call Manager 6.1?

thank you in advance.

Peter,

I dont think you can change/rename a user ID using the BAT tool.
What you might have to do is use the tool to add the new user ID's in the format you need and then manually delete the existing. Deleting them should be fairly quick after that.
someone else on this forum might have a better idea but that's all I can come up with.

Can't use BAT to update anyhting that is unique per phone. I had a customer wanting to change all the phones' descriptions. If you use BAT all the changes must be the same like changing all the CSS to be the same.

You could do an LDAP integration of CCM with your AD. Then it will erase all the Users and substitute what UserID, Names etc. that is in your LDAP directory. Then when you add someone to your AD, it will automajically build the user in CallManager. Be sure you have the users phone numbers in the LDAP though.

Thanks guys,

Seems like i wont have to worry about changing the USER ID with BAT as one of our professional services people have said, they should be able to rename the USER IDs with a utilty call IPAD. which i believe is a tool that intergrates with AD.

whykap - I was thinking along the same line as you, bye deleting the existing user accounts with BAT and recreating them again with BAT, but am caution that device profiles migh drop off..hrmmm

pndscm - I belive your responds is the one we going with in regards to LDAP integration with CCM. only issue i have is we have to pay..grrrr

thanks again for your help.

Cheers,

Peter,

You can do it with BAT if you are on UCM 7.x. BAT in UCM 7.x is greatly imporved.

Hi mtashiro,

I dont have the time to wait till we go version 7, but thanks for the update. Would be interesting to see how improved version 7 is. but im guessing it will be awhile as we have only just gone to version 6.1 as of last December.

No problem. Have several people on UCM 7 and it has been great. Especially in the BAT tool! :)
