Hello Everyone

I'm trying to use the Autonumber Field type in a table to autogenerate a number but without adding a new record. only the autonumber field is in the table. I know it dosn't really work that way. but that Idea is what I'm trying to acomplish.

I was trying to stay away from +1 to last number as 2 of the same number could be created.

I have front/Back end setup as there will be 4 computers using it. A couple of times a minute a new number will be needed (1000-2000 Numbers could be needed each day)

Any thoughts or ideas greatly apreciated

I think you'll need to give some more info to get help on that. Seeing as how you are wanting Access to do something that Access does not do, you need to give some details... give us some sample form fields, data fields, sample data, etc, showing the scenario of how exactly you want it to work.

I gave a code example here which will generate the next number in sequence without using AutoNumber and without the risk of two users getting the same number. The thread title's a bit misleading, my code's about halfway down the list.
