I need to rename a column when using a select statment. When I use 'as' in the statment I get an error

**Unable to understand after -"DECLARE".(247)
**Invalid Statement.(254)

I have tried putting the name in single quotes and double quotes.
I am trying this in MS Query using Intersolv 3.10 ODBC on Progress 9.1B and 9.1D (Patch 3) databases.

I do not have access to alternative ODBC drivers.

This is my first post so please be kind.

My problem is identical to SimonSwann's post concerning the **Unable to understand after -"DECLARE".(247) when I use 'AS' in a select statement.

I am using Progress 8.3 and the Merant ODBC driver accessing the dB from Cold Fusion 4.0. The Db I am working with uses "-" dashes in the column names (qty-used-ytd) and a straight query works fine except I must rename the column becaue CF 4.0 cannot handle the dashes. Changing the column name on the company ERP system dB is not an option, so I am stuck.

Such a simple problem that is a show-stopper and I have tried eveything without success. Anybody have a solution to this problem?

The AS keyword is optional: have you tried to execute your query without it?

How about posting the code? Surely you know that the error you get is often not the error you made.
