Hi all,
This may sound like a silly question be here goes:

I am setting up an internal Intranet for a small office, using Apache & Win 2K

Its all working fine but one thing that has been bugging me 4 weeks how can I set up a domain name for it? Its not really a domain name in the internet sense as it will only be accessed inside the building.
At the moment everyone needs to type in (ip address) how how how can I set this so that people can just type in something like

Again its not accessibly by the outside world
Please help

If you have a local DNS server, create a domain zone file for something like yourcompany.internal and have point to the IP of your server.

If your users are all using Win32 and you have a WINS server running, then you could just call the site "intranet" and add a static entry in WINS for the site.

You could add an entry for to every hosts file on your network. Want the best answers? Ask the best questions: TANSTAAFL!
