Hello,

We have been tasked with decrypting certain fields within the data warehouse, ie, credit card number. If the value is stored as an encrypted field, is it possible to run a stored proc to decrypt the value so that it can be displayed on a report or used to join to another table? Would this be a post SQL statement? Has anyone done anything similiar?

Oracle 9i, MSTR 8.0.1

thanks,
pp

With Oracle you can build a function (not a stored procedure) that can do the decryption.
If you have to do it outside of Oracle, you can build your own analytical function inside MicroStrategy (check out the function plugin wizard; and brush up you C++ skills! ;-) ).

2 cents,
FLB
