Hi, I have just installed w2kserver on my 2 computers.

My problem occurs when I try to start active directory users and computers on the computer (comp2)who not is a domaincontroller. I receive a message that says that it can´t find any dc.

I can browse for files and folders on comp1 from comp2. I have installed adminpak.msi on computer2.
What is the problem? Do I have to sit on a dc to administer useraccounts?

no you don't... but DNS has to be working.

Make sure that
1. the DNS server on your non DC is set to a valid internal
DNS server
2. on your non DC server :
right click on my computer, go to 'network identification', click properties, click more,
and make sure that your DNS suffix is filled in

Then restart your server.

By the way : are you logging on to the domain with that server, or are you logging on locally to that server ? Peter Van Eeckhoutte
