I am hoping someone will be able to help me out on two questions I have with Crystal Reports:

I am trying to report from a Microsoft Access 2000 database using Crystal Reports 4.6 that came with my Visual Basic 6. I can connect successfully to the database and display data in the preview window, however when I add a button to my form to try to print or view the report, it says that the log on paramaters are incorrect and fails. I have heard that I can download a driver from Microsoft (which I could not find) and also that I need to either use CR 7 or Access 97. Please can someone help and clarify this for me?

The other issue is how do I distribute my reports when they are done? I have read that I have to distribute various .rpt and .dll files, but how do I know which files I need to send out and where they have to go?

Many thanks.

Stuart

Hello Stuart

To get crystal reports to run from access 2000 from a ealier version of crystal than 8, you will need to down load the access 2000 drivers from Crystal Decisions. Here is the link, you can also look for my faq on this in the general section of this forum.

Although this says for the maintenanve release of version 7, they can be used with almost any versions.

As for distributing your app with crystal reports after completion, you can find information on how to do this in Crystal Reports Help (crystl32.hlp or developr.hlp)Where crystal reports is installed.

If you wish information regarding what runtime files need to be present in order for reports to run without Crystal Reports, please refer to the Runtime Requirements help file which you will find in the same program group in your Start menu where you installed Crystal Reports.

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to answer back.
