Hi
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use one modem (installed in any one pc) as the dialler for all the other pc's in a normal ethernet. We currently have 5 PC's networked through a HUB, & whilst every PC has a modem, it is most annoying having to swap cables to use a different computer. If anyone knows if this is possible, & if so could u please tell me how we go about doing it....

yes. you need win98 2nd edition to have the internet sharing option. not convinced it will be very good though over that number of PC's so you would benefit from purchasing a router if financially viable. If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

i found that feature about 2mins after writing that question. It works ok, but it doesn't look like it will let the remote user connect/disconnect. It seems to require the host computer being connected before the remote user tries to access any of the internet features......

Software package named Wingate. Software package called iShare.
I use ishare and install it for customers. But I also use lantastic as the network underlying it, just to keep the packets in the family. Ed Fair

I use Sygate for modem sharing. Works GREAT. Cost is about $40.00 but you can download a trial version from their website. Link to http:\\ Simple, easy to use and configure.

I have managed to get it to work with the standard windows ICSW now thanks....I might try those other products though
