Using a parameter from a subreport in the main report in a text box 1

I'm using CR XI.

I have a subreport in my main report. When I run the report, I'm prompted for a PeriodID from the subreport for a parameter AND I'm prompted for a PeriodID in the main report only for text. Is there a way to use the PeriodID parameter from the subreport in the main report so users will only need to put in the PeriodID once?

In the subreport linking screen, link the parameters to each other by using the dropdown in the lower left corner to select {?PeriodID}, not the default {?pm-?PeriodID}.
