Using a modem through a virtual server.

I was wondering if it is possible to utilize a modem through a virtual server and if so how? We have software that needs to poll information from remote devices by dialing into them and this is done from a server that has an internal modem. We are in the process of virtualizing most of our network and would love to virtualize this server as well. Thank you!

There are a number of external networking devices available to allow VM's to access physical devices. We use Lantronix boxes to enable USB dongles to be used by VM servers, I believe they also allow for modems to be attached also. Check the type of modem connection you have and have a look around at:
