Using a local mailbox as a cell mailbox

I want to be able to have a mailbox answer both a local extension as well as an external cellular. I have done some extensive testing and I am not happy with my results... Maybe I am missing something.

- I created a DID number that terminates directly on the MM pilot hunt group number.
- I added my external telephone number in the secondary extension.

- If I forward my telephone (My home phone) to the DID number mentionned above it asks me to enter my password (Which means that the system is recognizing me). In fact what I want is for the greeting to be played.

If I foward my phone to the phone number of the station directly then mail picks up properly because it is an internal call going to mail...The reason why I do not want to do this is that if I leave the office without send all calls then you will get 4-5 rings ont the cell phone then another 3-4 rings on the set before going to voicemail. I do not want this because most people will hang up long before. Once the cells finishes it's ring cycle I would want it to go to MM within 1 ring tops...

Any suggestions???

thx

Setup a xport station and cover it to MM then add it to the secondary ext of your mailbox.

Your home phone is calling the pilot number of MM so it thinks it is a direct call and that is why it acts like the users wanting in the Mailbox.

What is an XPORT station? Does this have to be done for every user that wants to do this or can this 1 XPort work for all users?

it's CM 4 with a S8720 in a G650 as the main office with 3 G350 LSPs with a Modular Messaging 3.0

An Xport is where you put a X in the port field. You can make it any type of station you want but I make them 2500 sets as it has less fields to contend with.

Then just build a cover path and make everything in it a Y and assign it to the station.

Then add that station number as the secondary ext to the mailbox you want it to answer with.

Understood but with that being said I have just used a 2nd DID number in order to get my cell to coverage which means that if 20 ppl want this I am using 20 extra DID numbers.....

Sorry that is the way it works. If you put the cell as a secondary ext and point it to the DID of the MM it is going to think it is you calling and ask for your password as it should.

The only way i know around it is to use a 2nd DID or just point it to your DID and do not forget to send all calls when you leave the office.
