in Windows XP when I printed to a generic/text printer it woul d prompt for a file name. Now in Windows 7, it does not but seems to show an error as well.
What do I need to do to fix this?
This is a print from a WEB site and I wrote VBA code to parse the data into Excel. I need to be able to do this in win 7 .Right now I went back to my old XP machine.

Hi Doug,

Have you tried this?

Open Add a local printer select port "FILE:" go to Next ; now the Generic printer is available Select Generic + Generic / Text only.

Let me know if it works for you.

Thanks,
FOXUP!

Yes that's the ticket !!!! I just changed the generic to Print to File. you know I probably did that in XP but it was a long time ago. Now I think you are right that is how it prints to file.
The Generic Printer just makes it plain ASCII text.
