For those of you that own a Fluke CableIQ and are intimate with it, I have a couple of questions:
1. What does the "SH" setting test for in the Autotests, and what should it be set to?

2. Can I save my own definitions for lists, ie site, locations, etc. for saving results? Can I make my own custom selectable lists or do I need to type in custom definitions each time I want something different than Flukes included lists items?

3. Can I mix two different clients or offices results on the saved data on the CableIQ and then separate them for reporting via the CableIQ software on a PC?

4. I'm showing a crossed pair on one test. How can I determine at which end, jack or the punch down block, the crossed pair is at?

5. How to remove the rubber case cover to change batteries without stretching or scruffing (with the coax connector) the rubber shell?

Thanks very much in advance - L.

ANSWERS, thanks to Fluke Networks support:

1. SH should be selected only if shielded cable is being tested.

2. The CableIQ does not allow you to create or save custom lists. You can change cable IDs in the CableIQ Reporter software.

3. You can sort your results by Cable ID, Date/Time, Length, Result, or Qualified columns.

4. The CableIQ will not be able to indicate which end a crossed or split pair is at because the wiring is wrong on both ends. If there is an open pair, you can tell. The top of the wiremap diagram is the wiremap adapter, and the bottom of the wiremap diagram is the tester.

5. Pull off the wiremap adapter, then pull the thin yellow part of the flexible yellow case back over the coax and RJ-45 inputs and the tester will easily come up and out of the case.

I hope these questions, and answers, will be helpful to others using Fluke CableIQ. -- L.
