I have downloaded a CGI script called formmail.pl that is supposed to add some additional formatting to the information that is submitted from an HTML form. However, since I am new to CGI I am having big problems with it. I am not sure which areas I need to modify within the script or if this script will even work for me.

I am a CGI novice and would really appreciate any help that I can get.

Thanks.

There are usually people willing to try to help. But, your question is so vague/broad that there is no way to formulate a specific answer. Can you try to pick out a few specific chunks of code that you need help with? 'hope this helps

If you are new to Tek-Tips, please use descriptive titles, check the FAQs, and beware the evil typo.

I downloaded this script from worldwidemart.com and it is called formmail.pl. I followed the instructions and changed the recipient within the script and the action within the html form. According to the read me file that is all I needed to do to get this to work. But when I try to submit the form, it tries to open the cgi file and displays that page can't be found. Like I said I am new to this and I might not even have the right script. All I wanted was a script that would make the data submitted from the form submitted in a more user friendly format. I was reading in a Dreamweaver book that in order to accomplish this all I needed to do was download a cgi script.

If anyone could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi wullie, thanks for responding. Where do I change the success and error page direction? Do I change that in the CGI scpript or within my html?

Thanks
