I have a customer in the UK that wants to virtualize their MCD.

Rather than retain the MCD as a PSTN gateway, they want me to use a Mediatrix 3631 as a media converter from what I assume is SIP trunking to E1.

I can't find any interoperability guides for the unit with Mitel.

Has anyone come across one of these, and if so, what would be your feedback?

Why do they need a media gateway unless they want E1 to SIP rather than the other way round...(I can guess who this is).

Yes Wireman50 you have sussed it out correctly.

They are not comfortable with the reliability of the CX-II controller as a PSTN gateway and are concerned about cost of replacement should anything go wrong.

Availability of replacements is also a concern for them but I have it on good authority that it should not be.

From my viewpoint, their concerns are misplaced and unfortunately I may have no choice but to try to implement this device.

The SOW will have caveats galore to say the least.

I guess we have been cut out of the loop then....I would encourage [and did so] them to go for sip now on a managed service.

I don't think so.

I've used that mediatrix and it is used for SIp device to Analog. Not SIP trunk to PRI (E1)

I assume you will buy in the UK [or they will] so it should be configured ore be able to be for a uk sip device. I suspect the SIP side will be just the same. We deal with a mediatrix supplier; do you wnat me to ask?

well, is there an interop guide for mitel for starters
