I need help with this problem,

We have 2 exchange servers in the same domain, having a problem communicating with each other, I think the main problem is that we have a SMTP Anti-virus gateway scanning all incoming and outgoing mail. All outgoing mail is forwarded to 192.168.1.17 from 192.168.1.18 & 192.168.1.18 instead of using DNS.

Internal mail from each server is going via the SMTP anti-virus gateway instead of directly server to server ? Also I cant get the public folders to replicate between each other either.

Both Servers are Windows 2003 servers with all windows updates and, Exchange 2003 SP1

Help needed please :)

thanks

2 exch server internally communication doesn't go thru Internet. they are talking to each other either RPC (RG) or smtp connector depending on ur setting on them.
so, what did u mean they can't talk?

Thanks for your help....

Basically they dont seem to be communcating via the RG or RPC they only way it seemed to work if it sent the messages out to smtp gateway and then backin as new email, so all replication tasks seem to fail. How do I make sure there communcating properly There on the same lan and subnet and linked via 1Gb switch. The 2nd server was installed as another server in an exsiting site.

Is there any information I have missed ?
