We are running reports from our reports server using cer10. When we run reports it seems that the server is using 1.o g of physical space but only using 30% of the memory on the server.

Has anyone seen this before and what could this be? A possible config issue?

Are you stating that it's taking up 1 gig of hard drive space, but only 30% of the RAM available?

It does write lotsa lil temp files, depending upon the nature of the reports.

Yes, it's taking up 1 gig of hard drive space, but only 30% of the RAM available. Any suggestions?

Hi, the 2 usages are unrelated..

The RAM use is just that used by the processes themselves
(i.e. the services) - add additional servers and you will see the effect..The disk usage ( especially the temp files) will vary greatly depending ( as Synapse points out) on how your reports run..If most filtering and sorting is taking place on the CE server ( and not at the database ) large temp files are very common and, since I've never really monitored it, I do not know if they are self-clearing ( or reused)..

You could check what files are being created and also look at where the space is actually being used to see what may be causing it.

I agreee with Turk, that was the point of my posting.

Temp files do get cleared out by CE, although CE 8.x didn't do a great job of this after server restarts.

I wouldn't worry over the space used, keep in mind that Crystal caches reports for fast retrieval and these will often get written to temp files. Obviously historical instances will be saved as well.
