Hello,
I'm using CR 10.0.0.533. When creating different reports on 1 database, I often want to use the same formula in different reports. That means creating this formula several times. Also when the formula needs to be changed, it means changing several times the same formula, with ofcourse chance on mistakes.

Question:
Can I create, somewhere in CR, one formula which I can refer to in different reports? So that I need to change only one formula for different reports, when necessary.
Same question for the Select Expert. Selecting records is often the same in different reports.

Assuming you are using the same tables you can simply copy and paste from one report to another.

An expensive solution is toi by Crystal Enterprise/BOXI and use the repository

But I find ControlC from one report and ControlV to new report much more cost effective ;-)

Thanks Ian,

Yes ofcourse, that's what I do now. But it's still too much work and not very efficient. Changing something in 1 report and then thinking of which other reports you should open to change it there also.....I was hoping on something more efficient[smile].

Even without the repository you can create and use custom functions. What I've done is create a series of User Defined Functions and saved all of them in a blank report. Now when I create a new report I never start from "new report" I start with a copy of my report that contains my UDF library.

Thanks Charliy,

But that's also what I do already, same as in Excel and Acces. It's a beginning but still not working for changes. My queries are very dynamic[smile]

You can also store the text of Crystal commands in Word or Excel documents, or the notes for Outlook etc.

Did you consider using user function libraries (UFL). Check this link for some details:
In general, server is the right place to manipulate data . Any server database will allow you to create functions. If you need formatting and error handling UFL will be able to handle this. By using UFL you can extend crystal reports and access also the local system ( users, files, culture information etc).

Viewer and Scheduler for Crystal reports and SSRS.
