Hi

Is there a way to allow users to set their own authorization codes on IPO 9.1.5?
I have created a short code but it does not seem to be working. I just created a shortcode like *777 feature: set auth code; number users extension. I also tried to set number to . and existing authcode to no avail.

Basically the client wants users to set their own authorization codes.

Thanks

And what exactly is the point in that?

Authcodes are used either to restric access - pointless if the user is setting the code as there woud be no restriction.
or for reporting urposes, againpointless if the reporting software does not know what the codes mean because the useres are setting up their own as and when they see fit.

your customer probably needs to re-assess what they are trying to achive along with some professional guidance to steer them in the corect direction

Give them what they want which is not necessarily what they ask for.

Thanks Guru.

They just did want anyone to deny having made a particular call. In the past users have refuted making calls and accused IT staff of knowing their codes.

I think you mean account codes and not auth codes

The IT staff will know their PC passwords as well.At a certain point there is a lack of trust there.
The user can set a password on the phone and lock the phone when away from the phone, then only emergency or internal calls can be made from that phone.

a simple call Logger will show which extns have made whch calls

if the user thinks someone lsi loging on to htere extn making & then making a call the time of the call should shw that the user in question wass not in the office at that time

unfortunatly I dont htink users can change their own login codes

Reading the phone's manual solves a lot of problems as no customer actually does read them...
