User forgets where he saved an important document. So under search, he selects the h:\ drive (which just happens to be the very top layer of the network)

Servers chug & chug for quite sometime.

Without changing the user's access/login script or mappings, is there any way to limit the user's search? I couldn't think of a way, but thought I'd run it by the experts.

I believe that you could grant rights to only certain directories/subdirectories. This can be done via specific rights assignments or by an inherited rights mask.
