I have one site where users are creating new folders on Windows 2003 Server but they need to F5 (refresh) explorer everytime before seeing the new folder. Same happens with deleting a folder.Pleae advise.

The users that are creating the folders need to press F5 after creating them?

If its other users that don't see the newly created folders, maybe it takes a moment for the update to propagate through the network. F5 just seeds up the process.

How are they creating the folders?

Perhaps posting in the forum929 may be a better choice.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

They need to press F5, otherwise they wont see the new folder. This is not normal as the newly created folder should appear almost immediately on the network drive.
They are creating/deleting the folders the normal way with Windows explorer.

If one of your users was to test with their machine in "Safe Mode with Networking" do they get the same occurrence of the problem?

If they had a Shared folder on another machine (not the Server) do they have the same problem?

Are there any updates available for the Server that have been missed out on?

When was the last time the Server was rebooted?

Have you tried posting your question in the Server Forum?

First an apology, the link was not supposed to be to the Printers forum, but to Windows 2003 server forum:

Secondly, I ask again which users have to press F5? The User that creates the folder? Or a different user browsing the folder where the new one was created?
Do the folders where this happens have many inherited permissions? It may be taking a moment for the permissions to fully apply to the new folder. Hence after creation it may not be immediately available.

When the folders are created is their much activity on the server? That is do the CPU usages spike?

Have you checked that the Hard drive in the server where these folders are created is on good shape? It may be starting to develop bad sectors which may hamper the creation of new folders.

Is anything else slow on the sever? Folder Browsing, file opening etc..?

User who creates the folder needs to press F5
No inherited permissions
Not much activity on server HP DL 380 G5
No server spikes
Servers HDD's were replaced 3 months ago. No drive errors
Folder browsing and file opening perfect

I will post this now on Windows 2003 Server forum, but just thought it was more of an XP problem.
