I have some XP clients on a W2K3 server who will not see their own My documents folders which are on the server, other group policy objects are not applied either (such as profile/ restrictions). This happens at random and a cold restart usually sorts it but I can't pin down the problem. One of my servers was showing the DHCP range to be over 90% in use. I amended the DHCP ranges but a day or two later the same problem still exists. Having checked the Application log on the client PC I can see the error "Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={BBD6207A-8F5A-476E-BDE5-21D12625BFEB},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=domain,DC=domain,DC=com. The file must be present at the location <\\domain.domain\SysVol\domain.domain\Policies\{BBD6207A-8F5A-476E-BDE5-21D12625BFEB}\gpt.ini>. (The system cannot find the path specified. ). Group Policy processing aborted."

Thanks for your input. I tried this link you provided but the events 1030 and 1058 i have are logged on the client PC not the DC as this article suggests.
