Good morning all ,

We have noticed that more and more users are "Muting" their phones without realizing it.

We caught on to the fact that they are , with out knowing, holding the * key too long which puts their phones on mute.
Even though the screen shows that they are on mute, the users don't pay attention to it and put in tickets that their phones don't work.

1. Is there a way to remove that mute function from holding the * key too long?

2. Aside from holding the * key to mute the phone, what other shortcuts or key button shortcuts are there ?
Where can I find them?

3. I purposely held the * key long to mute my phone then tried to find if my phone was on mute via an AMO command ( Actda) but I did not see my phone on mute.
Is there an AMO that will allow us to see the phone on mute and remove it so that we don't have to run all over the hospital each time it happens?

Thanks,

Have a Blessed day to all.

Eric

Do you mean they are pressing * on DECT phones to turn off the ringer ?

Are you taking about mute or turning off the ringer?

I know on the Openstage 40's a long press on * turns the ring function off.

Yes, turning off the Ringer. That is what I meant.

Well if the ringer is turned off on the phone what can you do ?
They may be getting mixed up with the # key which locks the keypad ?
I think that setting would be a local device setting only.

Maybe a mute key assignment on device via Amo Tapro could help.

It's a function of the phone not the 4K. You can't control or check it from AMO. Some phone models can do it and others do not. You can't deactivate it. On an OS40 it takes a 2 second key push to activate that feature. Perhaps the users need some training on how to use a telephone.

I have the same issue, but to a lesser extent. Why the idiots put a bell icon on the OS60 and not on the OS40 is beyond me. Being in a hospital environment the most often culprit here is the corners of 3-ring binders being set on the keypad.

At one point I sent out a general notice that if you see a bell on your display with a slash through it to hold down the * key to fix it. I also have a FAQ section on our intranet for voice things.
