users in multiple pick up/hunt groups

Hi got a customer who wants to set up multiple pick up groups, some of the users will be in more than one pick up group.
Customer wants the other members of a pick up group only to pick up that groups calls.

Say Joe is in Pick up group 1 and colleague Fay is in Pick up group 1&2.

Call cones in on group 1 and rings Fay phone - Joe can pick it up.

Call comes in on group 2 and rings Fay phone - Joe cannot pick up that call.

Any way to set it up - so far I have tried various ways but in this example Joe can always pick up all calls on Fay phone.

I know I am probably missing something really basic but appreciate any suggestions.

I think you are going to run into exactly what you have found. they can pick up any ringing call on that extension. it does not matter if it is a hunt group call or DID call.

The only thing that I can think that might help is the "call pickup members" feature but I am not sure and haven't got the help files to hand.

Sometimes people ask questions in weird ways. People think it works however they understand it. The job of a technical person is to explain how the system really works and how you can get the result they want, but maybe by setting it up differently.

Possible answer: Make Joe a member of Hunt Group 1. Then his phone will ring and he can answer the call. Does he really need to "pick up Fay's phone"? or does he just need to answer the call?

I think the manager is incorrectly thinking "pick up Fay's phone" That's not necessary. Explain to him/her how hunt groups work.

Joe will not be a member of hunt group 2, so he can't answer those calls.
