Some of our users are having to enter their user name and password to access our intranet. They can go to the internet, but not the intranet. This seems to be spreading to different computers. If they enter the information they can get to the intranet, but why is it asking for authentication to begin with. Seems like they are going out to the internet and then back to the intranet from outside our network.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you in IT at the organisation? Have a look at the machines that are turning up as problematic and answer your own question!

If you reach a point where you are actually struggling to find the reason - then post through some details of what you have observed, what you have found through investigation and what you have attempted so far. Some details about the network topology would also be useful.

Cheers,
Jeff

Wow...what a truly worthless response. Let me think for minute...if I worked in an organization that believed in hiring enough IT staff to do all the work, I might have time to change my mind about working here. But as it is I do everything from manage the all of the servers to putting paper in printers to showing users for the 100th time how to enter their password.
So you'll have to excuse me if I'm a little busy and would like to know if anyone at tek-tips has had a similar problem and knows the quick answer. Gee isn't that what tek-tips is for, helping others. Not giving stupid responses?

Let's see... HD101's profile, 23 threads started begging for help, 34 posts - mainly in your own threads and only one of them has ever been judged useful. And you've not once acknowledged the help you've recieved.

Hmmm... and you've got the knackers to be calling other people's efforts worthless?

Seems like you think tek-tips exists to be your own personal help desk.

As to your problem. Until such time as you deem it fit to mention even what platforms you are dealing with, there really isn't a hell of a lot that anyone can help you with.

Star for you dwarfthrower, I've seen more and more people like this coming to tek-tips... they don't seem to know what appreciation really is.

For all that don't know, the star I gave dwarfthrower is usually a sign of appreciation.

Sigh, I guess they aren't taking the time to read the link labeled "Thank * for this valuable post"... or they just don't care... as long as they get their answer.

You are right, my question really didn't include any useful information and I haven't posted any stars for the people who have given help in the past. Both items I'll have to do better on in the future.
