Users frames print out of Word but text missing 1

I have an ongoing and increasing problem with some users printing out of MS Word on Win XP Pro workstations through my Win 2K Server network.

This is predominantly with boxes and what happens is Word prints the boxes but fails to print the text. It's a user profile specific problem I think because if the user saves their work to their home directory I'm able to print it after selecting it when logged on with Admin permissions. Any ideas what might be the problem please?

I recall seeing a similar problem a few years ago which was traced to printer drivers. Check the driver versions on the problem users' machines versus your own.

Also, there's usually an option in a printer driver to either download fonts from the application or to use "font substitution" and use the printer's built-in fonts instead. The latter results in quicker printing but the output can look slightly different to what's expected, as Word is displaying one font but the printer is printing a slightly different one. Try toggling this on/off and see what happens.
