Users creating a loop on IP hardphones

My customer has their IP phones on a seperate VLAN and uses Extreme Networks Summit switches. Their users move around a lot and are sometimes accidently plugging in both ports on their IP phone (in this case a 5602sw) to live ethernet jacks creating a loop, and bringing down the whole network.

Any suggestions? Do the IP phones have any packet storm protection/detection?

You can disable the hub interface doing the following:

1. While the phone is on-hook and idle, press the following sequence: Hold or Mute 4 6 8 #
2. The phone displays PHY1=and its current setting.Press # (OK)Then PHY2= and its current setting will be shown. This is the PC connection LAN socket. Press * until you come to "disable" then press #.

This should stop any accidental connections.

Cool, so this can be done on a per phone basis. The thing is, I don't actually want to disable to the hub feature, some phones users do use the Phy2 to plug their computer into, they are just technically challenged when it comes to actually plugging their phones/computer in. It seems that 1 or 2 random people will simple plug both ports into live jacks thus creating a loop.

Is there anything on the phones themselves that detect this loop and are smart enough to disable it?

why running around with phones ???
why not hotdesking ?
if it is like it is then kick some ass and tell them what they are doing
 
oh they know now, and it would seem to be a user training thing, and the thing is, they are constantly physically moving desks, remodeling, etc... Hotdesking won't solve anything when you still have to physically unplug the phone and move it.

Ideally, if people moved, they could take their IP phone with them and it would come up again with their name without any user interaction, IF they could plug it in right...

I thought maybe these IP phones protected against creating a packetstorm. I thought I even read this somewhere in an Avaya doc. Does anyone know?
