Hi there,

I've recently refurbished a hplj 2100, stuck a internal jetadmin and extra paper tray in it and installed it for use in a 5 workgroup enviroment. Tray 2 is for plain while tray 3 is for letterheaded paper and the user could change between the two depending on needs. Since yesterday though when you go into Properties>Printing Preferences>Paper the source option is greyed out although the size option isn't. The printed is hosted on a NT4 and I haven't changed anything! Both administrators and users trying to use this printer get the same problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks

The problem might be located in a combination of an windows update and the printer driver. Try using a PCL 5e driver if not using one allready or get the latest from here : Also try make the client select output papertype from the application and not tray.

Thank you hpwizzard, the PCL 5e driver seems to have done the trick. Do you know why this fixes the problem out of interest?

When I asked our staff at HP in Amsterdam they mentioned something about some .dll files getting overwritten and replaced as the main reason and also the way the windows spool32.exe file handles the the updating of the installed printers.

Watch out Mrs Fiorina here comes Hpwizard!!!! Lol

Thank & a wee star too!
