Client is using Great Plains 8.0, and they are "losing" Purchase Orders. That is, they enter them, then print them. When it's time to do a receiving against them, they aren't there. (Not ALL of them, just apparently random ones.) I've checked the tables and they simply aren't there.

Facts that might be pertinent:

Have recently moved from old server to new server, but the POs in question
are missing on the old server too.

They are missing POs that they just entered, as well.

Not ALL POs are missing... nor are they just for a given vendor... nor are
they just for a given user. Seemingly random.

They ARE all for users that are connected via Terminal Services.

Purchase Order Enhancements is setup on the Terminal Server.

Collation is SQL_Latin1_General... (this is how it was set up when we got
there....)

We've done a Check Links and didn't find any errors.

SP2 is installed.

SQL Server is doing Optimizations each night.

Any suggestions?

One thing I would check, just to rule out the users, is to setup Activity Tracking (Setup > system). Under file tracking, select "Deletions from Transactions). Mark a user, then the company and repeat for the other PO users.

Go into Inquiry > System > Activity Tracking and see if you see any POs being deleted.

If you can rule out user error, then you can look more closely at the data stability. Are you looking in GP to find the PO or the sql tables (ie the POP10100 and POP10110)?

Thanks for the suggestion to check Activity Tracking... haven't done that yet...

We HAVE looked at those tables... not there... and I don't think they've deleted from history... some of these POs were just entered a couple of days ago...

Thanks, Luvsql... bet I know what got you into the Activity Tracking... all that stuff you're experiencing with Purchase Order Enhancements, Approvals, etc.

We have PO Enhancements installed, but neither of the PO Enhancement options are checked off... think our problems could be related?

I'm not sure what to think anymore as I have disappearing stored procedures and other people having disappearing data. We used to have the problem where a few users would update tables differently than other users, which makes no sense at all, but creating a brand new user seemed to fix the problem.

My biggest issue here is that if you are not constantly monitoring your data, how are you supposed to know that it's accurate (assuming you have healthy sql data and it's not an issue with torn pages etc)?

Good questions... I'm hoping others will chime in here... do we need to be careful with some SQL Optimization and/or Integrity checks? Anything to do with SQL Service Packs...

Not sure... just throwing out ideas...

I am positive that it is not sql or sql maintenance/optimzations that is doing this. It's dexterity and poorly written stored procs.

I have a lot of clients using one or both of the PO Enhancement modules. I've never experienced this problem. I don't have a lot that use Terminal Services though and I don't think any of them use TS with POE.

I believe there is an option to turn off allowing deletion of POs.
