Users are logged of from there terminal service session, with this popup.

Application popup: Logon timer expired : Session has now exceeded its time limit,
Logoff will start in 2 minutes.
Save all your files now.

In the event viewer it says:
Category: None
type: information
EventID: 26
User: N/A

They are local users, created on the server, They are not known by the domain. I don´t get any more messages then this. All the users on this server, get this message. I have been seaching the server for error, but can´t find any. Where to seach now.....?

yes.
They were set like this.
End a disconnected session: 1 hour
Active session limit: 1 day
Idle session limit : 2 hours

When limit is reached:
Disconnect from session

can you try removing the limits on a couple of users as a test? Just to see if it makes a difference....

I have done that. That was my first go. Because I thought that might would refresh the settings. No luck :-(

I don't have a Citrix server in front of me, but I'll assume there's some kind of settings there that you've checked?

You don´t control the user settings in citrix...at least not pre SP2, and this is SP1. All the user settings are done on windows. that is why I asked in this forum, and not the citrix forum.

How about the properties of the RDP-TCP connection through Terminal Services Configuration?

I found it. It was the RDP-TCP connection setting that had changed. It is normally set to inherit users config. But it was set to 20 minutes.
Thanks for the help:cool:

Bronto,
I have a problem where the uses gets disconnected from the server for reasons I have not found out why, all have high speed Internet that they use to connect to the server.

My problem is when they kicked off when they connect they are getting new session. It does not prompt to connect to their previous session. I can look into the TermService administration and then log off their other sessions but this is a problem. After awhile they might take up all the sessions avaliable being I only have 10 user server. Then they get cannot connect to the server message. I log off their previous open session and they are right in.

I have the server setup in the RDP Config as this;

under the sessions tab---
check mark override user setting end a disconnected session - 5 minutes
active limit - never
idle limit - never
check mark override user settings
then I have a dot in end session

I can not figure out why it is still leaving these session open, they don't even say disconnected in the TermServerAdmin console.

Any suggestions. I have been looking for an answer to this for a while now and no one has been able to help. I have also seen several posts in here with the same problem that I am describing. Your the man so that is why I am asking you, Thank you for your time.

as a test, open up a test session and run a continuous ping to some resource inside the network. If this session disconnects, it's likely that the breaks are not occurring due to "idle" time-outs.
Another thing, on that sessions tab, do you have the user settings over-ridden for "when session limit is reached or connection is broken"?

Bronto,
The sessions hardly has the status of "Disconnect" the users will be working along just fine and then they say it almost freezes on them and if the session remains frozen for a long length of time 3-5 min. then they get Terminal Server has ended connection. They double click to get into the server and it connects just fine, but they are in a new session then and the one that the Server ended the connection on remains. This would not be that bad if they got back into their same session. I just haven't been able to get the client to go to the same session once they get the Server has ended connection message. Some clients have high speed Internet and some have dialup Internet to get to the server. I had assumed that something went wrong with their Internet connection and that is why they would experience the Server has ended the connection. Some days it works like a champ and other days the Server freezes on them. What's your opinion?
To answer your ?'s - I am pretty sure these Connections are not droped by Idle timeouts by the user because they are in the middle of data input when the freeze occurs. Maybe because the Server is having a hard time communicating back and forth with the client because I am doing this all through the Internet. "This is my assummption" :>
Yes I have the override user setting checked on
When session limit is reached or broken.....I have the dot in End Session.

Inside the event viewer I am seeing
Error in Source TermDD
The RDP protocal componenet "Data Encryption" has detected an error in the protocal stream and has disconnected the client.

Thanks again!

Ok, so put that dot in "Disconnect from Session" instead of "End Session" , that's first. Now, how powerful is this server and how many users are connecting to it at a given time? Is it a VPN connection? You may want to set the Encrytion level to "Low" as this will lighten the overhead on communications...

The server is a P4 1.9 1024 mg Ram 100 Gig harddrive
There are up to 10 users connected to it at one time. They connect to the server via public Ip address then they make a VPN connection to the server. This is so that I can map back to their local printers for the 16 bit MS Dos program that all of these users use.

Made the change in the RDP config as you suggested.
If I make the VPN to low will I need to make changes on the client end also?
Thanks

No, just in the RDP/TCP connection. You can change the Data encryption level there. As long as you've got a VPN going anyway, it shouldn't hurt security.
