Hi
I am using sbs 2003 and exchange 2003. I have a user that I wish to remove the ability to send and recieve external email but retain the ability to send internal email. Is there an easy way to do this!

Thanks in advance
Nathan

I imagine this should remove external e-mail sending and receiving.

Go into server management > users.
Go to the user's properties and click the e-mail addresses tab. There should be 3 entries:

smtp username@domain.local
smtp username@domain.com <remove this one
x400 c=something;a=;p=domain...

Click the .com entry and remove it then uncheck the box at the bottom that says "Automatically update e-mail addresses based on recipient policy.

That will still allow outbound sending, but not receiving, since the reply address will be non-functional.

A better solution would be to add their SMTP address to the Recipient/Sender Filter in Global Settings and enable those filters on the SMTP Virtual Server. I don't believe the SMTP virtual server is invoked during local delivery, so I don't think it would affect internal sending/receiving, but you'd have to verify that.

Thanks for your help guys!
The Manager decided to allow the user the ability to send in the end but ALL correspondance is forwarded to him for monitoring!! A pretty good deterant!

Thanks for your assistance though! I did try the above thanks it worked for incoming as Shack said but on sending the address of the sender was username@domain.local.com which when replied to entered the system but couldnt resolve to a mailbox. Its a tough one never been asked before!

Anyway I now have to lock their internet access down becasue I have a strong suspicion her Pop email is about to increase!!! ;)) USERS (shakes head)

Once again thanks anyway! ;)
