Can a user name be modified and all it's privs intact in S10?

I sould've been more clear, is there a way to change the userid without modifying any thing else?
titanUsers -> titanUser1

Yes, you can change the user name as long as you don't change the UID or GID

user name: myname
UID: 1000
GID: 106

myname:1000:106:/home/myhome

->

newname:1000:106:/home/myhome

Think of a user name as an alias for the UID and group name an alias for the GID.

could you please tell me how to do that, so that the user's home dir gets updated along with the update in the /etc/passwd. I'm of the impression that the changing the /etc/passwd directly is not the recommended method.

I just use vi and edit /etc/password I have never had a problem but you should probably back up the file first, just in case. There is probably a smarter way to do it but I have never bothered to look it up.
