I am trying to encrypt a pdf file.

I have tried the Restrict Opening and Editing password option, but with software such has pdf password remover it can easily be removed.

I have checked the information on the password remover software and it appears that it will not work with username passwords.

So how do I password protect a pdf file with a username password?

p.s I am using acrobat pro 6.

Thanks

Acorbat pro allows you to encrypt a document so that only certain people can do certain things, including open, the doc.

You'll find the command under document/security/encrypt for certain identiities using certificates. You can read up on it in Acrobat Help.

Depending on sensitivity, plain password protection migh be ok. The vast majority of people do not bother once they get the password prompt. If you want to protect copyright, etx, you can also add a watermark or background.
