Hi all,

Getting an error after logon.

The instruction at "0x7c9111dw" referenced memory at "0x00000001". The memory could not be "read"

I have options to terminate or cancel to debug.

Any ideas of how to solve this, i have been scoring the net to no avail. I have already done a repair - again no luck!

Cheers

Dan

Try checking the disk for errors. Open up a command prompt (Start >Run >type cmd) and type chkdsk /r and hit Enter. Select yes to schedule the disk check for the next restart and then reboot your computer.

Joey,

Thanks for the sugguestion. I tried that over the weekend. I thought it had worked, however i now find that the only time it errors is if its plugged into the network (i havent tested any other ethernet networks but it seems to when its on the work domain). I log on without being connected to the network it doesnt error!

Any ideas?

Dan

Is it a problem with your Network Card driver? Have you tried removing (uninstalling) the driver via Device Manager, rebooting and allowing Windows to rediscover the hardware and install the driver? You may also find an updated driver at the manufacturer's site that you could try. Alternatively you could try the driver rollback feature in Device Manager.

Are there any repeating errors in the Event Viewer?

If you test the machine in Safe Mode with Networking, do you see the same error?

Try the Winsock fix (Netsh command) mentioned in this FAQ.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to test the RAM on the machine either.
