Userenv event 1000 and system.000 folders

Hey all,
Interesting problem. I have one nt enterprise edition server that is part of a cluster. Since about 2 days ago it has been giving me userenv errors and unable to create a temporary profile directory errors. Also \winnt\profiles is filling up with empty folders names system.000 system.001 etc.
Anyone come across this ? I'm stumped.
