We have an NT4 server which every month or so displays a user32.dll error. This does not prevent the server working, but you cannot access control panel, Administrative tools etc. We have all the latest service packs and hotfixes on, but it still keeps doing it.
Anybody had a similar problem.
Before its recommended, I've also done that registry thing that technet mentions whereby you increase some number or other. I know that sounds vague, but I can't find my paper work.

I've not seen this with an NT Server, but we tend to have several client machines each month that will get a user32.dll or system32.dll error. Not always the same machines, kind of sporadic. We restart the machines, not something you'd want to have to do with a Server though.

Hi,

To me it sounds like application is corrupted and it keeps failing. Do you know of any service or application that is scheduled to run on a monthly basis?

Check the usual places... Startup folder, registry in the runas service, run, etc.

Good luck,

John

Cheers John/BFOJ,
we're thinking along the lines of an application or even a memory leak. So, until we find it we'll just keep rebooting.
