User Variable in VM pro

In one of the document of VM Pro it mentions under
Voicemail Pro: Using the Voicemail Pro Client > Using the Navigation and Details Panes > Server Queues :
User Variables:

3. Create the matching short codes on the telephone system.

Did not see any such type of optons uner Shortcodes..Any guess how i can set up a short code to set "user variable" for VM Pro to test?
My purpose is to test the user set variable to route the call flow accordingly.E.g emergency situations.The user should be able to toggle ON and OFF this variable.

Open the client and go to the section that has "users" "groups" and "shortcodes"

Also add a variable with pressing F8

In that "shortcodes" section build your "module"
Then in manager go to shortcodes and build a new shortcode:

*99
voicemail node
NameOfTheShortcodeModule
Line id 0

When you have added the variable then it will show there in the systems Queues

Thanks for the response....will try it out..however i used the options (hidden)from the menu to change the user variable thru AA and was successful.(Got this idea from another thread).Appreciate your quick response..Thank you very much.

you can also create the user variable then create the change options in a shortcode in the voicemail and have the shortcode in the system point to it

It is one of many options to do things in this system, makes it flexible and a nightmare sometimes.
but I know that tlpeter doesn't like shortcodes in the voicemail because modules are easily exported and can be saved and reimported if you want to reuse them somewhere else in a different system, rather than reprogramming n shortcodes.

Actually it like the shortcode section.
Yes you cannot export them but you can copy all (except the startpoint) and put it in to a module and then export it.

I do pretty much the same thing, I put in a shortcode then I let that one go to a module where all the action happens, I got burnt with sending it to modules right away in the beginning and never changed back.
I remember in R1.3 or R1.4 nothing seemed to work properly and you had to try with trial and error which option worked for the system you where just working on. Not fun especially the reboots for every #$@^ change you made
