User select directory

Is it possible to get a user to select a single directory?

I would like the user to select a directory on their computer and then generate a website that will display any images in that folder. I do not wish to maniputate these files in anyway, just display them (and maybe lay over some CSS stuff).

I do not think this is possible but figured I'd ask.

Any ideas?

What do you mean by select a directory? Are you wanting all the images in someones computer to show up on the net? Or generate this webpage that will be downloaded and show the images from the directory properly when the file is shown?

I suppose more so the later....I do not want the images from someones computer to show up on the net, I only want/need the user to be able to view them.

Essentially I just want to display the images to the user after they have selected the proper directory.

You would need to restrict yourself to IE Windows only... and use an ActiveX control to do this task. I wouldn't event know where to start

ActiveX? I do not think I would be able to do this if I need to use Windows IE. I work in a lab that is Apple exclusive...
