Hey!
I am using a Novell 3.12 box. I was wondering: Is there a utility out there that I could use that would allow me to show user access by resource? Meaning, right now, all I can do is go into syscon, and select a user or group, and then select the Trustee Directory (or file) assignments. This is ok, but I have a HUGE list of users/groups, and would like to know WHO has WHAT access to say "VOL1\data"
See what I mean? Novell seems to have its access sorted by user, where as NT (my strength) organizes its access by resource. I am trying to migrate a TON of users AND files/folders to an NT box, and a tool like this would REALLY help!

Try the command line utility ndir(sys\public)to help
you sort who has what and where.

Ok... well that was interesting, but did not seem to answer the question. Maybe there is some switch combination that I did not try... Do you know how I would get it to list access rights by resource? Like NT does?

IE:

c:\sharename
everyone: read
admins: fullcontrol
shareusers: modify

Is this possible???

Use the NetWare Utility, FILER.EXE, which is located in SYS:pUBLIC. Select "Manage File and Directories". This will hopefully give you the info that you need.

Unfortunately, NetWare v3.12 is not the most desciptive because it still uses Bindery. NetWare v4.x and above would let you easily view the information that you are seeking.

Good Luck.
