It appears that my job fails when scheduled due to the STORE account not having permission to the folder in which the Excel file is in that I read from, however I can manually run the DTS job using my login.

Since the problem connection is Excel, and I see where it gives the helpful message that I might need to add a user/pw, however there is no place to do so, only the file name with a browse button alongside.

What's the trick here? The dba doesn't want to give the STORE account permission to the folder.

Thanks in advance.

The dba doesn't want to give the STORE account permission to the folder
why not? (that question is not directed at you, it is directed at your dba) it would behoove your dba to grant the required permissions on the directory/file otherwise you will not be able to schedule it.

Not sure if this would work (not tested), but if you schedule the package as a job, open up the job, click on the "steps" tab and open the step up. click on the advanced tab and at the bottom change the "Run as user" to your account (provided you have your account on the SQL server). Hopefully this should run the package under your user security context - i.e. allow access to the folder. As I said, not tested but might be worth a pop.

Cheers,

M.
