Hello,
I have a citrix MF 1.8 server running on win2k adv server. with about 50 users. I have an app that needs database connectivity through odbc connectors. To date the way I have done it is to log in as each user individually and create the odbc settings. this can iobviouslly be tedious and drawn out for a rebuild or whatever. Is there a better / another way to do this. I have the users logging in as there NT4 domain usernames. I can have them all log in as a special user but wasnt sure if that would be a good idea. Then they would all write to the same profile etc.
thanks for any help

Hi jdl508,
We have applications that require ODBC connections as well and here is how we do it.
We put the server into install mode " change user /install".
Then go into the ODBC administrator applet in the control panel->Administrative tools. Then create a ODBC connection under the "system dsn". Then put it back in execute mode "change user /execute".

Hope that helps.

Enigma99,
thanks for the response, I hadnt thought of that. But after trying it seems to not have worked :(
Basically what you where saying was go to a cmd prompt and type
change user /install
after you are in install mode create the odbc connections
then change back to execute mode
Is the theory that any usser should be able to use these connections no mater what there profile, ie, usera creates odbc connections in install mode, user b logs on and should be able to use the same odbc connectors without installing them?
thanks again
jdl

What change user /install does is to ensure that the installation (when performed by a local admin) writes all registry entries to All Users rather than just the current user.

Simply using a regular user for this will not work.

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
