At the moment when a person wishes to log onto another Windows 2000 Pro machine (different from the machine they normally log in from) they are able to do so but they are logged in using the standard profile which may not have all the programs on the menus or desktop. So I think we need to save profiles centrally on the server (Running NT4 Server sp6), however I do not know how to do this.

To keep it simple you could make the computer join the NTSrv4 domain, create a domain user account on the NTSrv4 domain and log in as that user from the other computer. If the user is not a member of the NT domain they will not be able to log in as they do not have such a privelege or right to log on. The user that is a part of the NT domain a will be able to see their programs and desktop once you configure the system this way and you can make other configuration changes as well such as a roaming profile, etc.

Go to User Manager for Domains on the NT Server and create the user you want and make it a global account and add them to whatever group you choose.

How about trying Roaming Profiles?

I have this setup on my domain here at work.
Create a folder on the network to host the profiles. What ever machine the user logs into, it will push out his profile from the server, when he logs back out again it will push the profile with any updates back up to the server.

Research it and check it out!
