We had a Novell server which user would access via his win 2000 prof laptop. He logged onto Novell 5 and synched his password with the account he was using on his workstation. I come along and remove Novell and try and get him using the new win2000 server (I want to move users off Novell 5 server). I have created an account on the windows 2000 domain for him, when he logged on he has lost all his other settings and documents, and outlook profiles. I then realise that he has been logging on as an administartor on his laptop, and it was this password that was synchronised with the Novell.

When he goes home he has dial up access etc. Buthe has been logging on as administrator of the workstation to access his work and settings. But as I have now created a new domain login account for him, he has his settings there.

What do I do so that he has his settings on the domain and the workstation. What do I need to do at server levl and at workstation level. As I have spent a lot of time with him..I did not want to hack around and so help!

I don't think there is any need for him to have files dumped from his network on to his laptop. Its just that he would like to have access to files and settings on his laptop login to be seamless with his domain login.

Secondly, When he was logging onto Novell 5, he haad printers set up on there which are still being seen. I cannot delete them or rename these printer icons. Whatshould I do? I have remoeved his Novell 5 client as he no longer needs access to this. any ideas?
He currentlyhas these icons which he no longer uses and the new printer icons which are being shared via the win 2000 server HELP

For the profile issue log on as administrator on the WS and explore the admin profile. You should see the following files: ntuser.dat, and NTuser. Copy these two files to the new profile that you have created for him. This will take care of most of the setting that he had. You will still need to manually transfer some files, but not many.

For the Printer issue, use regedit and navigate to this hotkey, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, you will see a "printers" folder list below this key, expand the printers folder and delete the un-wanted keys.
