I have a Mac running system 9.2 that boots fine from the CD. However, when I boot it from the hard drive, the only option I have is to Shutdown or to select a user profile. When I select the user profile, it asks for a password. I have not established a password or a user profile. I started the computer from the CD and tried to go into Multiple Users. I got an error which told me this couldn't be used without the Multi User extension. I then went into the control panels and put the Multiple User icon on the desktop and restarted. The same problem still exists. Any ideas on what I may be missing?

Trash your multiple users prers, file sharing prets, etc. I can't remember exactly which one it is but I know it will reset it. I had to do that once...
Best of luck,
PT

You've got Multiple Users enabled? I initially thought you were booting into X but you specifically say 9.2

If it's 9.x it sounds like a Multi User issue.
Try booting up wwhile holding down the SPACE BAR. This should boot you into the enxtension manager. Uncheck the multi user elements - in the control panels and the Extensions enabled folders.

Continue the boot and see if you're free and clear.

I don't think multiple users will allow you to turn it off that easily. However, just boot off of CD and delete the multiple users preference, upon reboot you'll get right in. Remember, you're unique... just like everyone else.
