Does anyone know if it is possible to set user preferences globally in BOE XI? I know about the viewer type through the CMC, I was thinking of the objects per page, visibility of info on report (owner, instances etc), whether menus shown or not and the initial view after log on.
thanks for any help

It's long been my whine that CE & BOE provide no way to update the DEFAULT preferences, so you have to update preferences every time you add users.

APOS had a freeware tool for doing mass update all users in 8.5/9/10 - but I don't think they have updated it for XI.

I think the preference manager tool for XI is only available as part of their APOS OBJECT MANAGER product. It allows you to update at the individual and group levels (including EVERYONE).

Hi Split

Yes - you can set user preferences globally in BOE XI - such as viewer, display, etc.

Then take away the Preferences Hyperlink so the user cannot access them to change them.

Hi V,

Sure - Home -> BusinessObjects Enterprise Applications -> Info View -> Properties -> Display -> Tick off "Show Preferences Button"

Paulmarr -

How do you set the PREFERENCES "globally" as DEFAULT for new users that are added in BO-XI....?

TIA for the help.

The same path: Home -> BusinessObjects Enterprise Applications -> Info View -> Properties

contains all the user preferences that you can set globally.

Display - Object Listings - and Viewers are the attributes you can set globally.

I don't think you can control the initial view each user has of the report folder structure - other than to take the control away from the user by removing the preferences button. They will get the default view that is set when installing the software.
