Hi all, I have a server 2000 xp network.
All was going fine until a staff member with admin privaliges left his machine loged on and unattended!
A pupil has reset some file permissions, so now some (and who knows which yet) pupils cannot see there my work folder.
Question is do I have to trawl through 500 folders putting this right or can I change the folder on the server which holds their MY Work globaly to reset all the permissions for each user. Kids / Staff don't you just love them!!!
Thanks John

I don't think you want to hear the answer.

Folder permissions are set individually, so you'll need to check them all.

(I think)

Hi,

You can use DUMPACL to check permissions on folders. I think this programme has changed it's name recently to SECACL..or some such thing...

Do a search on the net..

Cheers

Options:

- Restore the data from tape (You will lose changes but get your security back)

- Use XCACLS to script the changes. although, this requires time.

- Manually set the permissions back

-hope this helps..

will try XCACLS, but I have a sinking feeling that I will have to check and change every user file, and remove the admin user right from the staff dork who left his machine loged and unlocked!!
