Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if someone could help me. I am building an access database and have a request to print the date, time, and username who updated the record. I have seen that you can set up different usernames and groups so i am assuming this information is stored somewhere.

Any idea how / IF i can record it in the db or on a form?

Thanks in advance for your help

access uses a .mdw security file to store this info, even on unsecured databases...

however, if you've already got the user security set up, then just use "currentUser" to return a string of the current user name...

i haven't got it set up, but i will have to set it up as they want some security on different parts of the db. Where do i do "current user" is this a command? how do i set it up so that it updates the record only if something is changed?

Sorry for all the questions, but i haven't done much Acecss development

Thanks :D

Hi,

I have found out how to update the date and user by using a macro that uses the setvalue action with the expressions currentuser() and date().

However when i point the item to the table in the item section it is saying :

"MICROSOFT ACCESS CANT FIND THE NAME "ADDRESSTABLE" YOU ENTERED IN THE EXPRESSION"

I can point it directly at the form, but then the table is not updated ,and therefore loses the information once closed. Please can someone help me

Many thanks
